| BOGUE CHITTO - The Bogue Chitto Lady 'Cats survived a 3-hour offensive show Monday night and edged Wesson's Lady Cobras 17-14 in a slowpitch softball game. The contest featured 29 hits and 9 errors in 7 innings. |
"We had too many errors (5) but we kept our composure with our hitting," said Bogue Chitto coach Scott Leggett. "Wesson hits the ball extremely well but our hits were timely hits. It was a very competitive game."
Leggett's girls erased a 12-6, fourth-inning deficit to beat Wesson and remain undefeated in 2 games. The 'Cats rallied for 7 runs in the bottom of the fourth and led 13-12. They added 4 insurance runs in the sixth to lead 17-12.
Leading BC's 9-hit attack were Kelli Howard and Chris May with 2 hits apiece.
Wesson coach Hugh Webb and his Cobras were disappointed by the defeat. "If you have 20 hits, you should win the game. But we allowed 13 walks and they took advantage of them."
Wesson's pitchers had control problems. Christine Fink (O K, 2 BB) took the loss in relief of Dallas Jackson . Laney McQuage (0 K, 8 BB) started on the mound. Dallas Jackson (0 K, 5 BB) also saw action.
Offensively, Wesson (0-3) got 3 hits apiece from Summer Rials, Madison Rials and Ann Shelby Davis. Two hits were added by Macie McQuage, Leah Greer and Jackson as they took a 7-2, third-inning advantage.,
Darcy Miller (0 K, 0 BB) pitched the win in relief, replacing Blaine Myers (0 K, 3 BB) in the fifth. MAC Signs Of Fame
