The Libby volleyball team moved into the championship round of the Northwestern A divisional volleyball tournament Friday night by beating regular-season league champion Polson in four games to deal the Pirates their first loss of the season.

Polson awaits the winner of Saturday's loser-takes fourth match between Columbia Falls and Whitefish for the right to meet Libby in the title round, beginning at 5 p.m.

The top two teams advance to the State A tournament beginning Thursday in Bozeman.

Libby def. Whitefish, 3-0

Jackie Mee's 15 kills helped the Loggers earn their way into the undefeated match with a 25-15, 25-23, 25-10 sweep.

Logan Best had 11 digs for Libby and Evi Cernick set 24 assists. Alysha Martin provided the Loggers with five aces and Alex Kulbeck and Katie Emery each posted three blocks.

Whitefish was led by Kaitlyn Wehrli's seven kills and 12 digs.

Second round

Libby def. Whitefish 25-15, 25-23, 25-10

Kills - Libby 31 (Jackie Mee 15), Whitefish 16 (Kaitlyn Wehrli 7). Blocks - Libby 8 (Alex Kulbeck 3, Katie Emery 3), Whitefish 5 (Olivia Nagler 4). Digs - Libby 41 (Logan Best 11), Whitefish 28 (Wehrli 12). Assists - Libby 27 (Evi Cernick 24), Whitefish 13 (Jessica Slaybaugh 8). Aces - Libby 11 (Alysha Martin 5), Whitefish 6 (Heather Bailey 3).

Polson def. Columbia Falls, 3-0

The Pirates advanced to the undefeated match with a 25-15, 26-24, 25-16 victory.

Kyla Duford set 37 assists and had a block for Polson and Nicole Davey slammed 15 kills and stuffed a block. The Pirates also received five aces from Breanne Kelley and 20 digs from Staci Benson.

Kayla DeWit led the Wildkats with four kills and two aces.

Polson def. Columbia Falls 25-15, 26-24, 25-16

Whitefish def. Ronan 3-0

The Bulldogs moved into Saturday's action with a 25-13, 25-12, 25-17 victory.

Kaitlyn Wehrli collected 10 kills and six digs for Whitefish, which also got 22 assists from Jessica Slaybaugh. Heather Bailey had two blocks for the Bulldogs and Madison Tveidt had five of Whitefish's 12 aces.

Ronan, which finished the season, was led by Chelsey Bourdon's four kills.

Mee's 23 kills and four blocks propelled the Loggers to the 21-25, 26-24, 26-24, 27-25 win in the undefeated match.

Cernick passed out 40 assists and Kulbeck registered four aces for Libby. Alysha Martin gave the Loggers 23 digs.

Davey paced the Pirates with 21 kills, while Duford added 42 assists and five aces.
